Bartering Part 2: Skills to Know

Bartering Part 2: Skills to Know

Bartering has been around for millennia, dating back to ancient civilizations. However, it does take a certain amount of skill to barter successfully. Here are some assets that will prove invaluable in bartering.

In reality we barter every day, just not in the same ways our forefathers did a couple hundred years ago. In fact, some people still barter when they trade one vehicle for another. A great barter skill to have that doesn’t require a physical trade is home defense. Having goods and items people want can make you a target, especially after SHTF. You need to be able to defend yourself, your home and your stockpile.

Bartering isn’t always about trading one item for another; sometimes, it’s to receive a service. For example, not everyone knows how to garden, but people who do will be able to use their knowledge in exchange for other items or services. The same goes for water purification, mechanics and medical services. All are important, but only a fraction of people have the skills. Others will be willing to pay for those services.

Bartering is an important aspect of our lives whether we realize it or not. We might not do a lot of it right now, but it could be the currency of the future. It’s important to have the proper skills to be successful at it. If you haven’t already, check out part one and learn what items to stock up on.
