The FBI seems to be in overdrive as of late, and this week was no exception. FBI Director, Christopher Wray, dropped a serious claim, one that brings some concerns to light. On June 23, 2020 Director Wray singled out the biggest threat to the US.

Director Wray revealed that the FBI has more than 2,000 active investigations that lead back to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In his statement to Fox News, Wray accused the CCP of interfering with US politics. He also stated there has been an increase of 1300% in economic espionage probes linked to the communist regime. Wray added that China has the broadest and most comprehensive threat to America’s innovation, economic security, and our democratic ideology. He claims the FBI is “opening a new counterintelligence investigation that ties back to China every 10 hours.”
John Brown, the assistant director of the FBI, backed Wray’s claim that China and its communist party poses the greatest threat to America. Brown added that from their point of view, the US hasn’t faced a threat like this since the Soviet Union during the Cold War. China made its plan public with an announcement of its “Made in China 2025” plan. The plan outlines where China wants to become the world leader in:
- Information Technology
- Green Energy
- Other Major Industries
Wray believes that the CCP is interfering with US politics to sway the US towards a more China-friendly direction. According to DOJ press releases, the initiative to counteract the CCP has ramped up in recent months, bringing more indictments related to Chinese infiltration since 2019 than the Obama administration’s entire eight years.
