The rule of law governs society. Yet, crime rates continue to skyrocket in many parts of the country. With that in mind, imagine the world without the rule of law. We all have a preconceived notion of what a criminal looks like. However, after SHTF, you can throw all that out the door as anyone that’s still breathing has the potential of being a criminal. Some will act out of necessity, and others will simply commit crimes because they want to, or can.
Even the people we look at to protect us may turn into individuals we must avoid. After society collapses, the government will attempt to maintain law and order to retain some semblance of normalcy. Unfortunately, this also means they’re likely to do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal. It also increases the odds of corrupt individuals exploiting the situation for personal gain.
The people you trust now may not be the same people you can turn to after SHTF. Societal structure keeps the majority of people sane. But after SHTF, there’s no telling what people will do. Your neighbor could very well become your biggest enemy.
That’s why it’s important to take active measures today to prepare for the possibility of a world altering situation in the not-so-distant future.
