Plastic Bags, It’s Your Time to Shine!

Plastic Bags, It's Your Time to Shine!

We often look at plastic bags as worthless and simply throw them away. However, we couldn’t be more wrong about them. Before you throw away those bags, check out these survival uses.

As John demonstrates in his video, you can use plastic grocery bags to cover your feet when adding layers of clothes to prevent from getting the inside of your pants wet or dirty. That’s simply one trick you can use a plastic bag for; there are plenty more out there. See for yourself!

Another great way to use plastic bags, no matter what type, is to make bedding or insulation out of them. You can simply stuff bags full of leaves, pine needles and grass to create a makeshift mattress or insulate your shelter’s walls; you can even stuff the bags full of other plastic bags!

We know that water is important for survival. However, in the wild there isn’t a place to buy it; you have to find and purify it yourself. One way to make it drinkable is by digging a hole and lining it with a plastic bag, filling the bag with water and dropping hot rocks from a fire into it. Eventually, the water will boil and be drinkable. Just remember to be careful as the hot rocks can melt the bag if not used with care.

There are way more uses for plastic bags, and they aren’t the only “trash” we can use to survive. Check out how you can use soda cans in a survival situation.
