Surviving With Q-Tips

Surviving With Q-Tips

Your ability to survive in an emergency depends heavily on your willpower and ability to use the items at hand, even those that seem to be useless. Resourcefulness will help you tremendously. For example, most people wouldn’t give a Q-tip a second glance in a survival situation. With a little creativity, even this simple item can become of great use.

You could always make a pile of Q-tips to help the fire along, but sometimes you can only find one. However, there are plenty of ways you can use them while surviving.

For example, you can use a Q-tip as a makeshift eye-dropper to accurately measure bleach or iodine for purifying water. Of course, you could always use the cotton swab for its intended purpose of cleaning the outer parts of your ears; after all, good hygiene is important.

You also use Q-tips for cleaning other items such as your firearms, HAM radio, electronic devices, and other hard-to-reach areas. Or, you can create a candle from a bundle of them. Simply stick them in the ground or in a container full of sand; you can even place them in Crisco. Check out other ways Crisco can be used for survival and see how you can make a DIY candle with a Q-tip and tube of ChapStick.

Did you know that even something so simple as a Q-tip could be useful in a survival situation? Do you know of any other unusual uses for items that could save a person’s life? Reply to your email and let us know, we would love to hear from you!
